Overly Excited

Apparently I was very anxious when I wrote the last post about the t-shirts. I forgot to mention and link the other two paintings I added. Both pieces were added to the 6th page. Some paintings that were already previously established on the 1st page were moved to the 6th page as well. If there anyone is pondering why I did this, I just wanted to make it easy to find the t-shirts, without having to search through a multitude of pages.

Page 6!

Please let me know what you think of both of them. Que Hora Es? (pictured above) is still for sale, Sanctuary has already been sold.

T-Shirts!

I hope you didn’t miss me too much

I did miss my “bloggy friends” as one bloggy friend says. I’ve had one hectic summer schedule going and it’s still crazy as can be (not to be confused with a heretic summer). I’ve just had to shove stuff off to the side to get this done, along with updating my website. I’ve finished the massive over-haul of my whole site. I edited every page except the contact page, which I should have made one little change to as well. I will be updating the site again in a few days because I have a more edits to do. I will have two more paintings to put up then and I have come out with a t-shirt line, which I will have pics of as well.

As far as what’s new now, I Must Be On Candid Camera, Jackson Pollock FTW and Going Green are on Page 5. Forget The Future and What Are You Thinking About? Are on Page 6. Page 6 only has two image slots filled atm, but when I do the update it will be a little more crowded, to include some paintings moving around! (cue epic suspense music!)

And if anyone is pondering about the t-shirts I just mentioned, I will have more info to come with that sometime next week (hopefully). I’m in hangin’ with my family heaven right now and it will be getting even better, but I will try to dash out a quick blurb with the details.

I hope everyone else’ summer has been as glorious as mine has. Let me know what’s going on, with links, pics or other juicy gossip bits.

Painting Class Project #6

We had our mid-term critique today. I have so much more work to do on a few of my pieces that will bring them together in some manner. I’m not happy with two, I need to work on my time piece a bunch more and I have one that I’m happy with but I guess I need to re-work some of it.

I was a little annoyed since when my still life painting was commented on, I followed those comments and changed the painting based on those comments. Now more comments have been brought forth that weren’t previously mentioned, and these weren’t nit-picky comments either. I guess you can’t please everyone. I will alter what I want to please myself and be done with it.

As I mentioned I still have to work on my time piece. The background is mostly done but the foreground will be worked over heavily. Enjoy the pics, but remember that this is a work in progress. Dimensions are 12” x 48” x 1.5

I feel as if I’m ready to divulge the secretive info for the last few weeks. I am going to be creating another blog. This one will be a general blog that will discuss many non-art items. One main feature of the blog will be beer reviews. I’m not sure of the name for the beer review section yet. Do you think “Yeast Infection” is too strong?

Painting Class Project: #4

To begin, I will deliver on my Still Life painting. Do note, I needed to tweak two things on it before it was done.  Take a guess what. People enjoyed it and I am really proud of it. I normally don’t do still life pieces but setting this one up with personal items, over a stupid bowl of fruit gave the painting more substance and meaning.

And you might wonder why there is only a painting of the Still Life and not one of the current assignments. Well I’m not even close to being done with the Time assignment. I have the idea and concept. The background is mostly finished; I am currently working on the mid-ground. The good news is that we have a “catch-up” week, so I will be able to work on this for an extra week along with other pieces.

We were notified that in two weeks, we’ll be working on the self-portrait. I will be thinking about what I want to do for that. My teacher is really good about not limiting us in what we want to do, even making the self portrait something that’s representative and not actual.

I have a surprise coming up, but I’m not even close to being ready to spill the beans, so you’ll have to wait, In the meantime, let me know what’s on your brain.

Song: Animals As Leaders – CAFO. I’m going to buy this cd as soon as I get a chance; it’s impressive to say the least.

Painting Class Project: #3

So you may be wondering why I don’t have a picture to go along with this week’s assignment. Well I haven’t finished it. Currently it’s about 90% done. I need to do a few more things and finalize with a few details. I normally don’t paint still life, but I really had lots of fun with this one.

I have a feeling that I might not be done with the next painting on time either since the first idea I already have for it requires a lot of work and it would take more than the allotted week. I have to figure out exactly what I’m going to do.

I promise I will have at least one picture to showcase next week. Pinky swear! (unless I’m dead)

Absentee Peer

I guess I’m just writing this because I feel as if I have been slacking dearly with my frequent readers. I have been running around during this winter break so much and I have neglected to comment on a few bloggers for the past little bit. I and probably going to go full force to make up for it over the remaining few days I have left into next week. The semester starts on Monday, but during that time, I won’t be crammed with a lot of work to accomplish so I’m not in any need to get things done to some incredible fast drastic speed.

I do want to at least let everyone know that during this time I have not wasted it blindly but I’ve accomplished much. I have a lot in the works and I will be sharing more and more as time progresses. I’ll be posting my latest painting in a day or two. I’m excited about the new semester starting tomorrow!

New Piece

I am working on a new painting. It’s actually finalizing a trade. My dad hosts my website and so I am making a painting for some of their friends to pay him back. It’s a good thing, since I get to paint something for free (he paid for supplies) and I still have my website and will continue to have it hosted.  Win/win for both parties.

Here is the quick sketch I drew on the canvas. The canvas size is 36” x 18”

I’m not going to show it through its process. I have tons of time gaps and crunches throughout this project, which sucks but there isn’t anything I can do about it. At the very least I will post a picture of when it’s complete. That will be sooner than you think.

What I have kept hidden from you

Now that Christmas is over and most of the gifts have been given out, I can now show pictures. I am still a little reluctant but I don’t want to be secretive forever. Here are a few shots from the extra work I did, making a handful of gifts for family and friends.

Shot Glasses:

I made twenty-two of them total. Not all of them turned out how I wanted, but I am ultimately pleased with the results. I wanted to make my ceramic class time as valuable as I possibly could.

Coffee Mugs:

I only made four of these. One I didn’t have extra clay to spare, since I didn’t want to buy an extra bag for the remainder of my bust. I wish I was able to have tested more color combos and known exactly what I wanted out of them. I am very happy with the way the mugs turned out.

Staying till 6-7pm almost every night the last three weeks of school paid off. I still wish I could take Ceramics 2 so that all my knowledge wouldn’t go to waste. I’m content with the way things turned out. I’ll be posting about a new painting I will be working over the break. I bought supplies yesterday and I’m excited. Hopefully, I’ll be able to start working on it tomorrow.

General Voicing #2

I guess this will mainly concern two things: Glicee and a dual painting

Glicee:

I was asked by a friend to possibly make prints of two paintings I have. I never really considered making prints as I always focused on original work. I did want to make some later on down the road, when I had a few more years under my belt and be a little bit more established. Also, reading into it, to be cost effective, I would have to make a few (5 or more). You can do only 1, but most of the money put into it is because of the scanning and work the operator has to do. When he/she does it once, you don’t have to do it again. I would do it if I had a few people interested in 1 or 2 paintings, so I wouldn’t dig into my pocket too much or have to charge more, because it would be more per.

Has anyone else come to the road of staying original vs making prints?

Dual Painting:

I want to find another artist on my wavelength as me, to do a dual painting with. I did one with my ex and it came out pretty cool. I have to fix a few things with it, but I’ll probably post a picture of it in a little while. I have lots of paintings I need to take pictures of and edit, but that’s another story.

Anyway, there are a few ways about doing it, either working on two separate sides of the canvas, which is usually better, but you can also have someone do the first layer and then the next person works on top. Usually if you’re going to do it this way, I would imagine it would be best to have two canvases so both people have a bottom and top. It might get tricky that way; however, there will be two finished paintings.

Anyone had any positive/negative stories regarding this?

Song:  Been a long weekend. I did lots of studying and homework. I took a break to write this and when I’m done, I will be going back… Devin Townsend – Winter
